What Is A Charter School?

A Charter School is a "public” school that must adhere to the regulations mandated by the New Jersey Department of Education.

A Charter School:

• Provides an improved learning environment;
• Encourages the use of different and innovative learning methods;
• Is accountable and monitored by the NJ DOE;
• Has smaller-class sizes, longer school days and longer school year;
• Has more parent involvement and community partnerships;
• Is governed by a BOARD OF TRUSTEES;

OUR MISSION: The Mission of East Orange Community Charter School is to promote excellence by providing all students with hands on, active learning experiences through “back to basics” activities that allow spontaneity, creativity, and innovativeness.

Our challenge is to ensure responsiveness to each individual child, enabling all students to reach their potential and EOCCS’ high standards.

We have openings for all children (Kindergarten through Fourth Grade) whose parents value active participation in their children’s education.
